The morphological evolution of the Venice Lagoon

Through mathematical models, it is possible to compare the morphology and hydrodynamic behaviors of some of the historic configurations of the lagoon, specifically those presented in the maps of Sebastiano Alberti (1611) and Augusto Denaix (1809-1811), and the current Lagoon, simultaneously showing three different conditions. From this comparison, it is possible to observe the extent to which the effects of human intervention have contributed to the morphological evolution of the Lagoon over the centuries, overlapping with the natural processes that have always occurred in the Lagoon.
